We are looking for a dynamic Central NSW Woodland Bird Project Coordinator to coordinate and implement pre-determined priority actions for three NSW-listed threatened bird species in accordance with recovery priorities established by the NSW ‘Saving Our Species’ (SOS) Program.

The Central NSW Woodland Bird Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordination and delivery of the final two years of a four-year project that is working with regional partner organisations and landholders to ‘re-age’ the temperate woodlands of Central West NSW.  Activities will be undertaken in close partnership with a wide range of project partners and volunteers.

You will do this by:

  • Reviewing operational work plans in line with projects plans
  • Coordinating implementation of on-ground conservation actions, such as installation of nest boxes and hollows and infill shrub plantings
  • Identifying survey locations and coordinating surveys
  • Developing project communications including website content, presentations and project newsletters
  • Engaging volunteers, community groups, landholders and Traditional Owners in recovery activities for the project
  • Developing and implementing community education programs
  • Maintaining and managing project data added to the Birdata sightings database

Status and Remuneration

This is a full-time position (1FTE) based in central west NSW within the Cowra region on a
two-year contract. Salary up to $68,678 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation.

  • Have tertiary qualifications in Ecology or another relevant discipline
  • Have demonstrated knowledge of bird conservation in Australia
  • Have demonstrated ability in managing projects and budgets
  • Have a current full Australian driver’s license
  • Have access to a current registered motor vehicle
  • Have valid Australian work rights with permission to work
