WTI is looking for a sociologist for its conservation and livelihood projects in Vidharbha, Maharashtra. This is a field position, located at Gondia district and requires extensive travelling.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Point person for the specific field and on-site implementation of the project
  • Implement and monitor Green livelihood initiatives of WTI at Vidarbha
  • Network with local NGOs, relevant Government Departments
  • Report writing and  day to day documentation


  • In-depth knowledge and experience in participatory conservation, eco-development and alternative livelihood
  • Good understanding of community dynamics and ability to think fast
  • Experience in conducting PRA and in preparing micro-plans will be an advantage
  • Good at carrying out surveys, organising group meetings and documentation
  • Excellent communication skills, specially with rural/tribal communities
  • Fluency in Marathi.

A post-graduate degree in a social science discipline such as anthropology, sociology, social work, rural management, political science, human geography or equivalent. Exposure to current debates in wildlife conservation will be an advantage.

At least 2-3 years of experience, preferably in Maharashtra
