Overview:

     The Central Africa Forestry Director supervises the daily management of and strategic planning for a long-term, multi-faceted and multi-million dollar forest information and governance project in Central Africa through implementation of voluntary, indicator-based forest monitoring and forestry policy reform.

Responsibilities:

The position holder will:

·         Establish and maintain close relationships with a variety of French-speaking stakeholders in Central Africa including national and local governments, forest-related industry, local NGO’s, community-based organizations, and the local population and indigenous peoples;

·         Manage a program budget;

·         Negotiate contracts;

·         Report to donors and superiors;

·         Promote fundraising;

·         Ensure adherence to a strict project budget and schedule; and

·         Manage several employees and supervise sub-contractors, consultants and African-based field coordinators.

Qualifications:

·         Masters degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration or Economics;

·         8 years of experience in the job offered or in forestry and/or forest management;

·         2 years of experience working in public policy;

·         2 years of experience which demonstrate knowledge of public policy and government relations in Central Africa;

·         5 years of experience in project management; and

·         Written and spoken fluency in both English and French.
