BirdLife International is looking to recruit a Programme Manager to manage its strategic partnership with CEMEX, one of the world's largest and most influential cement and aggregates companies. This bilateral partnership will engage in activities that deliver benefits to both conservation and business.
BirdLife and CEMEX have agreed to develop a long-term strategic relationship to jointly design and manage a programme of activities to enhance the conservation of birds and their habitats globally within the context of BirdLife's strategic programmes for priority species, sites, CEMEX's developing global biodiversity strategy, and in the wider context of sustainable development.
The Programme Manager is required to undertake a wide range of duties associated with the development and implementation of BirdLife International's strategic partnership with CEMEX. Such duties include:
* assisting with the development of a range of tools, such as a global biodiversity action plan standard that can be used by operations, as CEMEX proceeds to develop and implement its biodiversity strategy
* developing and brokering collaborative partnerships between BirdLife Partners and CEMEX operations in-country, encompassing biodiversity awareness-raising, conservation project development, as a means of implementing CEMEX's biodiversity strategy and BirdLife Partner objectives.
* contribute to global outreach of the programme's outputs and outcomes to the extractive industry sector.
The Programme Manager will help BirdLife International and CEMEX achieve joint conservation objectives globally by building shared local interest and practical activities for conservation at CEMEX sites or nearby Important Bird Areas, seeking to meet both core BirdLife and company objectives.
The post is to be based at the BirdLife Secretariat in Cambridge, England and the salary on offer is £28, 000 - 31, 000 plus pension contributions. The post is currently advertised as a 3 year contract, with the possibility of extension. Closing date for applications is 30th September, 2011.
