Description

The Carbon Disclosure Project is seeking an exceptional candidate for this highly sought-after internship. Applicants must be extremely motivated and willing to commit a significant number of hours to this opportunity to interact directly with some of North America’s largest companies on behalf of CDP.

The CDP US Corporate Engagement Intern will be responsible for a) engaging with US and Canadian companies to ensure that they complete the CDP 2011 Investor Information Request and b) supporting preparation for a major workshop event to assist companies in effectively responding to CDP.

Main responsibilities

Corporate Engagement:

  • Phone non-responding S&P 500 and Canada 250 companies to determine key points of contact, obtain contact information, and encourage 2011 participation through articulate and persuasive communication skills
  • Manage company contact information using a relational database system
  • Field questions from responding S&P 500 companies
  • Assist in organizing webinars and calls to support and engage all S&P 500 companies

Workshop Support:

  • Assist with event planning and project management
  • Support speaker engagement and event logistics

Office Responsibilities:

  • Answering phones
  • Checking phone voicemail and passing messages to staff
  • Other duties as they arise

Requirements

Preferred Background and Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Familiarity with CDP, its mission, and information requests
  • Understanding of climate change and its impacts on business
  • Familiarity with GHG emissions accounting based on The GHG Protocol
  • Fluent French or Spanish an asset but not required
  • Project management experience
  • Strong computer and IT aptitude
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Enthusiasm, drive, and self-motivation
  • Good attention to detail and highly organized
  • Self-directed work style and the ability to take direction
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • An understanding and persuasive manner

The desired start date for this position is 8 November, 2010

The successful candidate will be based in the CDP US office, New York City (located near Rockefeller Center)

No financial compensation can be provided beyond transportation costs, but opportunities for future employment based on exceptional performance may arise.
