CDP Cities Internship (unpaid), London

CDP Cities provides a global platform for municipal governments to disclose greenhouse gas emissions, climate change risks and adaptation strategies and other climate change-related data. CDP is the official reporting platform of C40 Cities and hosts annual climate change reporting from major cities around the world. The program delivers materially relevant data for cities, residents, global businesses and other stakeholders.

CDP is currently looking for an intern for the CDP Cities team in London. This position is an opportunity for the right applicant to be part of a quickly growing, global initiative and thus to participate heavily in the shaping and development of the work.

Main responsibilities

The principal responsibility of the successful applicant will be to provide additional support to the Cities project team. This support will primarily involve research into key areas of policy and practice, particularly in the areas of city response to climate change, the role of business, and emerging threats to property, life, and business. Responsibilities will also include outreach to city governments around the world, providing support for these cities in responding to CDP, and assisting with data analysis and report writing.

Requirements

This position would suit a confident self-starter preferably with or pursuing a Masters degree interested in a career in the policy and practice of climate change in either the public or private sectors. The candidate must be able to commit to working at least 2.5 days per week on a regular schedule from January to June 2012. We will preference candidates with fluent language skills in French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic.

This is a fixed-term position until 15 June 2012. The position is based in CDP’s London office, starting as soon as possible to mid-January 2012.
