Carbon Removals Project Officer

Fixed term, full-time (35-hour week) until 31 March 2027
£41,360 - £46,050 per annum (inclusive of all allowances) depending on experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of nature-based solutions to protect and increase the carbon sequestration of our habitats, in support of the City Corporation’s Climate Action Strategy which breaks new ground and sets out how the organisation will achieve net zero, build climate resilience and champion sustainable growth, both in the UK and globally, over the next two decades.

The City Corporation owns and manages over 4,450 hectares of London’s open spaces. We are looking for a project officer who has experience in land and habitat restoration projects to support the City Corporation’s Carbon Removals project, which aims to protect and enhance carbon sequestration across these open spaces.

This role will work alongside a dedicated project manager and will contribute to the planning, facilitating, and monitoring of activities that protect our existing carbon sequestration, such as natural flood management, wildfire management and tree planting and protection and initiatives that increase carbon sequestration, such as meadow and wood pasture creation, hedgerow and reedbed creation and changes in grassland management.

To be the successful candidate you will understand ecosystem services, will demonstrate experience of applying nature-based solutions to conservation projects and will have a passion for nature conservation and environmental issues. You will need organisation, communication, and numerical skills as well as proficiency in writing and presenting reports and project management documentation. You will have experience in undertaking on-site fieldwork, leading work packages of larger projects, data collection, analysis and presentation and directing the work of volunteers.

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We are looking for enthusiastic an adaptable person to join a small but dedicated team to deliver this crucial project and make a real difference for the future of our sites.
