A recognized leader in the marketplace, The Conservation Fund’s Go ZeroSM program is an innovative climate change initiative that engages individuals, organizations businesses to help restore native forestlands across the United States. Over their lifetime, these restored forests will trap carbon dioxide, filter water, enhance wildlife habitat and create new recreation areas.

The Conservation Fund’s Go Zero Operations Manager will implement the Go Zero program in partnership with state and federal agencies 1) to ensure the highest levels of quality, integrity, transparency and accuracy, and 2) to enhance The Conservation Fund’s reputation as the nation’s most effective, innovative and partnership-driven land conservation organization. This position will be located in Arlington, VA, San Diego, CA or Chapel Hill, NC.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Project management of the Fund’s Go Zero program will include the following responsibilities:

     

    • Provide due diligence on project site selection;

       

    • Assist Fund real estate team to facilitate site acquisition and legal review;
    • Work with natural resource agency partners and outside consultants to manage site preparation and restoration of native forestland; and
    • Manage reporting, monitoring, registration and certification for each new project.
  • Provide the first point of contact for all project verifier, agency and stakeholder (customer) inquiries.
  • Provide high-quality and timely advice to the Go Zero director and Conservation Fund senior management on emerging carbon standards and protocol.
  • Manage program budget, database, and tracking.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for customers, partners and foundations.

Required experience and skills:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years work experience in the fields of climate change, energy and/or forest conservation. Experience with forest and terrestrial-based carbon management strategies is desirable.
  • Demonstrated superior project management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US voluntary carbon market.
  • Experience and expertise with voluntary standards and protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with institutions and interact with people of any level.
  • Ability to work independently and keep Program Director and other Fund managers informed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of The Conservation Fund.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Frequent travel may be required.
