Effective with the release of this announcement, Winrock International is seeking applications from highly qualified professionals for a Carbon Inventory Technical Expert position. This position is expected to be based in Washington, D.C. The Technical Expert would be expected to provide technical guidance and training related to the measuring and monitoring of forest carbon. The position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding. Written and spoken fluency in English is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
Education:                             Masters Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, Ecology or other relevant environmental and international development fields.
Work Experience:                Minimum 8 years of experience in natural resource management projects, including at least four years of professional experience in developing countries with technical applications for remote sensing and geospatial information systems.
USAID experience highly desired
 
Skills:                                     Winrock seeks applications from technical and professional candidates with experience working on international development projects in one or more of the following sectors:
§ Forest Carbon Inventory
§ Carbon credits and Climate Change
§ REDD+ and Payment for Environmental Services (PES) programs
§ Demonstrated experience with voluntary and compliance carbon markets including VCS, CDM and REDD;
§ Capacity building for government agencies to set up baselines for measuring forest carbon and measuring deforestation
 
Candidates must be fluent in English.
