Chemonics seeks a carbon finance specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded project focused on sustainable forests and climate change mitigation in India. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. The carbon finance specialist will support reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation as well as enhanced sequestration, through afforestation, conservation, and sustainable management of forests.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in forestry, natural resource management, or climate change-related area in science, economics, carbon financing, or sustainable development
Minimum 10 years of professional experience developing guidelines and methodologies to enhance forest carbon stocks with an emphasis on carbon accounting, monitoring, and verification
Demonstrated expertise in greenhouse gas inventory systems and proven participation in international carbon markets at both the national and state level
Experience analyzing social and economic incentives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the forest and agriculture sectors
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Fluency in English
