About our Coal Campaign

Greenpeace India kick-started its campaign against coal with the release of a report ‘True Cost of Coal" in December 2008 highlighting the "external costs" of coal manifested as damages such as respiratory diseases, mining accidents, acid rain, smog pollution, reduced agricultural yields and climate change.

In 2009, the coal campaign will move ahead to challenge the rampant addition of centralized large power plants. We will instead demand a decentralised, sustainable solution to deliver real energy solutions for the poor.
