Greenpeace Canada is seeking an experienced campaigner to work on our Climate & Energy Campaign and on other campaigns. This position represents a very exciting opportunity to join a highly effective global organization.

 Climate & Energy Unit Head and possible other coordinators (based in Toronto) 
Salary rate: 
$ 44,569 with an excellent benefits package. This is a full-time position

Greenpeace campaigns to avert catastrophic environmental disasters. This will be accomplished, in part, through engaging the public and civil society to pressure governments, lobbying provincial and federal governments, and providing solutions.

Candidates must be bi-lingual and should have a minimum of 2 years’ campaign experience, and a proven record on developing and implementing successful campaign strategies. As a Greenpeace campaigner, you will be required to:

  • represent Greenpeace at meetings;
  • act as a spokesperson to the media and at public events;
  • work with scientists and policy makers;
  • research and analyze a wide range of materials related to climate change, forest biodiversity and forestry practices;
  • coordinate the publication of reports, factsheets and other campaign materials;
  • effectively devise and manage successful public engagement strategies; and
  • lead multiple tasks and activities in coordination with other Greenpeace units

 Required Skills and Experience:

  1. A demonstrated commitment, knowledge and passion for environmental issues;
  2. Proven experience lobbying governments;
  3. Strong negotiation skills;
  4. Extremely well-organized and able to establish priorities, and proceed with objectives with modest supervision;
  5. Proven ability to work independently and at the same time be a good team player who supports colleagues;
  6. Flexible personality;
  7. Ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds;
  8. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including good public speaking and presentation skills, as well as strong listening abilities;
  9. Ability to remain calm and think on your feet in a fast-paced, creative environment;
  10. Leadership and judgment skills

You will work with colleagues in Canada and around the world and you must be able to travel, including internationally. The ability to work weekends and evenings is sometimes required.  

Candidates should understand and support the Greenpeace campaign tactics, including the use of peaceful civil disobedience.
