Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organisation that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace.
In 2009, we will be campaigning on different fronts, political, industrial and consumer, to promote sustainable agriculture, stop the commercialization of genetically modified food crops, specifically Bt Brinjal and raise the profile and debate around the harms caused by synthetic fertilisers.
The Campaigner’s Position The work would involve intense lobbying with political parties and bureaucrats and mobilisation of different stakeholder groups with a focus on consumers. The campaigner will also undertake market research and lobbying with major Food Brands to get GM free commitments from them.
Who we are looking for….. We are seeking applications from individuals, who:
• Have basic knowledge on the science and politics of genetic engineering. • Understand the relevance of creating market rejection for GM food • Able to develop plans to mobilise consumers to reject GM food. • Able to lobby with the Industrial groups. • Knowledge of the legislative process and players involved in agriculture policies in India • Knowledge on the regulation of GM crops in the country.
