Description
Job Purpose: Develop and deliver high impact global campaigning on Economic Justice and Climate Change issues in collaboration with Oxfam country programmes and Oxfam International affiliates. Lead specific projects and strands of the International campaign strategy with a focus on popular mobilisation, activism, alliance building and civil society capacity building.
 
Reporting Lines: Reports to OGB Economic Justice Campaign Manager
 
Budget Responsibility: Responsibility for budgets and finances of projects up to £25,000.

  • Management / leadership of campaigns related projects and specific components of strategy. Works independently making decisions and problem solving on routine, new and complex issues/problems.

  • Provides creative/innovative solutions to wide range of problems/tasks/projects - some new/some routine.
  • Forward planning & management of projects/development of campaigning strategies and tactics
  • Providing advice on appropriate communications solutions across the organisation at all levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design campaign strategies and tactics to influence decision makers or publics, with an emphasis on popular mobilisation and activism.
  • Lead on specific projects and areas of campaign planning, delivery and evaluation for international campaigning at national and international levels as part of Oxfam's new economic justice campaign.
  • Support a range of staff and coordinate across departments and divisions of Oxfam in the roll-out of campaign strategy and activities (internationally for Oxfam GB [OGB]/Oxfam International [OI])
  • Take leadership for delivery of global campaign activities at key moments (e.g. lead for Oxfam on popular mobilisation at a UN or G20 international meeting)
  • Develop and manage relationships with a diverse range of campaign allies including potential to lead OI global alliances strategy on a particular element of the economic justice campaign, and responsibility for some external representation
  • Support OI affiliates and teams in southern countries and regions in the delivery of campaigning strategies and projects
  • Develop and implement creative campaign concepts/activities to increase impact and lead the production of campaign materials, tools and online resources
  • Ensure effective internal communication of campaign plans and results in the UK and internationally
  • As a member of the Economic Justice Project Team, make a strong contribution to the overall planning, shape and implementation of the campaign
  • Offer support to Campaign Manager in leadership of specific strands; cover Campaign Manager in periods of absence

  • Experience of working across different cultures to support campaigning strategies / efforts (E)
  • Excellent communication skills with excellent spoken English and ability to write effective campaign communications materials (E).
  • Additional languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese) desirable (D).
  • Understanding of how campaigning can contribute to gender equality (D)
  • Understanding of development and or environment issues (D)

Other: There will be some travel away from Oxford, including international travel. May need to work after hours or at the weekends (time in lieu may be taken)
