Power plants are one of the leading polluters of our air, contributing to global warming and skyrocketing rates of asthma in the U.S. President Obama’s EPA will be proposing rules cutting down on carbon emissions from power plants. Given the gridlock in Congress, this is the best shot at tackling air pollution and global warming for the foreseeable future.

Grassroots Voter Outreach is working on behalf of leading environmental organizations including the League of Conservation Voters and Environment America to run a citizen outreach and volunteer mobilization campaign to build public support around President Obama’s proposed clean air rules. We are hiring campaign staff to start immediately to build the support needed to overcome opposition from big polluters.
Job Responsibilities:

• Recruitment: Quickly build a team of 15-40 petitioners by recruiting from within the local community. Interview prospective staff and make hiring decisions.

• Staff Management: Teach petitioning skills. Work with your staff in individual and group settings, with a particular eye towards developing leaders.

• Petitioning: Gather petitions in the field at least three days per week to generate public comments and to train new and experienced staff in the field.
