Directory Entry : Founded in 1967 as the Environmental Defense Fund, we tackle the most serious environmental problem...a scrappy group of scientists and a lawyer on Long Island, New York, fighting to save osprey from the toxic pesticide DDT. Using scientific evidence, our founders got DDT banned nationwide. Today, we’re one of the world's leading environmental organizations. In the U.S., Fortune magazine called our board one of the country's most influential nonprofit boards. You can see the jobs of the EDF on their website.

About the Mississippi River Delta Campaign

The Mississippi River Delta Campaign is a multi-organizational campaign to build support for the restoration of coastal Louisiana and ensure the resiliency of its coastal communities. It aims to restore the natural land-building process of the delta ecosystem while simultaneously ensuring a vibrant, sustainable, and healthy future for the area’s communities, culture, and economy. Our recent campaigns include working to close the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, restoring a 30,000 acre wetland adjacent to communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and building land in the deteriorated Barataria Basin. This work is supported by a diverse staff of policy and legal experts, PhD scientists, community advocates and organizers, and economists.
