Alaska Wilderness League, the only Washington, DC-based conservation organization devoted exclusively to protecting Alaska’s wilderness, seeks a Campaign Communications Coordinator. This individual will work closely with the communications team to provide communications strategies and communication support services to the League’s Alaska Wilderness campaigns.

Qualifications
BA or BS, 5-plus years experience working as a communications professional, experience on Capitol Hill or an equivalent setting, front line experience with the media, excellent written and oral communication skills, confidence as a public speaker, strong leadership and motivational abilities, sense of humor, and ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment are essential.
Position Summary
The Campaign Communications Coordinator works closely with program staff to (1) develop communications goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics; (2) articulate communications plans; (3) establish the League as a trusted source with the media; (4) serve as communications liaison with like-minded stakeholders; (5) prepare media releases and communication collaterals; (6) coordinate media interviews for staff experts; (7) help conduct media trainings for League staff members; (8) help develop and maintain media resource library; and (9) serve as a resource to staff members on various communications issues. This position reports to the Deputy Director.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Significant experience and/or knowledge is required in the following areas:
– preparing communications strategies, tactics, and plans;
– developing media releases and communications collaterals; and
– establishing rapport with reporters, journalists, and public figures. - Ability to express ideas articulately
