Work on this exciting, new landmark campaign will begin in January and form a key part of the Department’s output in 2021. Targeting young people, schools and teachers, we will be working with a number of partners inside and outside the BBC to deliver important learning and change around climate issues. We will work closely with colleagues in the Natural History Unit and Factual to ensure their groundbreaking programmes are connecting with learning outcomes and meaningful calls to action. We know that over 73% of young people are anxious about climate issues and want to know more about how they can help shape and control their futures. With this in mind, we plan to offer a campaign that draws on 3 main strands: a ‘green curriculum’ for schools; action on rebuilding the natural environment; clear information, inspiration and calls to participate in change. It is important that this campaign speaks to young people of all ages across the UK, regardless of social background or location. This campaign should inspire and empower young people to make decisions about their future. |
