We are looking for instructors for the following age groups:
1st – 3rd Grades, 4th – 6th Grades, and 7th – 8th Grades.

Duties

  • Prepare and facilitate engaging nature education activities for groups of up to 10 students
  • Utilize Camp Habitat After School curriculum
  • Keep attendance records
  • Take good care of program materials (both borrowed and provided)
  • Report to the Camp Habitat Director
  • Meet with the Camp Habitat Director to review Camp Habitat After School curriculum, best practices of positive youth development, meet other staff, learn about other available resources, and plan activities.
  • Participate in Camp Habitat After School Instructor meetings, email discussions, and end of the year reflection session.
  • Conduct a site visit in the school of placement

Hours

Part-time: 4 - 8 hours per week, excluding school holidays and in-services. After school program
site hours are between 4:00 and 6:00pm Monday –Thursday; exact times depend on the schools to
which you are assigned.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with children in mixed age groups in formal or non-formal educational settings
  • Knowledge and skills related to nature education and ecology, especially about Interior Alaska
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn principles of youth development
  • State trooper background check. (will arrange)
  • Must have reliable transportation for self and equipment
