Call for proposals: Policy options to attract renewable energy investment in Tanzania - 21 Mar, 2014The Climate Parliament is seeking a consultant to produce a report for Tanzanian parliamentarians on policy options to attract investment in off-grid renewable energy. The Climate Parliament coordinates an international, cross-party network of parliamentarians who share a commitment to tackling climate change and renewable energy. We have been working with the Tanzania Parliamentarians Friends of the Environment (TAPAFE) group to provide support for initiatives that the parliamentarians have identified as drivers for renewable energy investments and electrification in Tanzania. These initiatives include increasing rural electrification with renewables, establishing a comprehensive renewable energy law and increasing government spending on renewables. The report will be instrumental in guiding the MPs in their renewable energy parliamentary initiatives in the coming months. This is an exciting opportunity to influence Tanzania’s renewable energy policy and the country’s pathway to sustainable development. The report will provide:
The policy options are expected to support actions, initiatives and activities by MPs - including parliamentary questions, supplementary questions, introduction of legislation and other parliamentary actions.
