Description

The ECCET Unit (Economics of Climate Change, Energy and Transport) has a vacancy for a post-doctoral researcher to work on the ICPA-SEI (Integrated Climate Policy Assessment-Scenarios and Economic Impact) project. This action is currently developing and assessing global and EU energy scenarios, as well as exploiting and maintaining the related modelling tools.

The GH-30 will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the application of several energy/environmental assessment tools in policy impact assessments. He/she will focus on the evaluation of technological portfolios alternatives, assessing the cost-efficiency of infrastructural changes, price formation mechanisms and analyses of the EU power sector.

He/she should have carried out research on subjects relevant to energy sector, including the regulatory aspects. Desired academic backgrounds include electrical or energy engineering, and economics. Academic or professional experience with quantitative assessment tools will be appreciated.  Additional experience programming would be judged positively.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or having fulfilled all the obligations to obtain a PhD (certified by the university) or having a minimum of 5 years research experience after the first university degree giving access to doctoral studies (which may include periods of training such as a masters degree) in a field relevant to the JRC's scientific activities.

A very good level of written and spoken English is essential and knowledge of at least one other EU language is compulsory.
