Sequence was recently retained to develop a full service GHG / Climate Change Consulting Practice Group in support of expansion into North America for one of the world's largest international EHS and Environmental Information Management consulting firms / service providers.

The organization's board has specifically tasked us with development of the practice here in the United States from the ground up. including determination of organizational staffing structure, placement of the firm's North American headquarters and possible absorption / merger of small regional practices.

Supported by over 20,000 worldwide employees and partners, the U.S. practice group leader would be responsible for driving consulting functions with an eye toward support and promotion of the organization's existing international undertakings. Essentially, being the lead executive to oversee operations and promote existing international services into the marketplace while providing the much more expanded strategic consulting and technical presence that is necessary to establish a significant organizational presence and credentials in North America.

For this position we are seeking a highly talented, experienced business executive or very able senior technical specialist with operations and practice development experience.

From a technical perspective, we would be seeking expert level experience and knowledgebase with higher level strategic and technical Climate Change, Greenhouse Gas (GHG), Carbon Management applicable abilities to complement the organization's already existing EHS and Environmental Information Management core service offerings.

This includes aspects such as:

• Environmental Compliance & Verification

• Carbon Footprinting, Monitoring & Management

• Supply Chain Footprinting

• Emissions Offsets and Carbon Trading

• Carbon Strategy Development

• Opportunity Assessments

• Climate Neutral Assessments

• Project / Corporate Inventories

• Project Design, Development & Implementation

• Methodology Development

From a business perspective, we would ideally be seeking a minimum of 10 years experience in strategic consulting, project management, staff direction / mentorship, marketing, client relationship management, and business development with the ability to be the key resource to build the practice group around.

Our client has the vast network and resources necessary to support the operation internationally, and will be hiring the critical support necessary for the practice locally.  But as the key individual on the ground it is critical for the group leader to be dynamic and capable of being the key focal point for the operation. Additionally, the individual must be capable of being dynamic enough to market operations, maintain relationships and ensure consulting and program work is undertaking and completed.

This position could be based in any United States location, but currently we are focusing on the California marketplace and / or the western U.S. for placement of the initial headquarters facility. This does not preclude consideration towards basing the office elsewhere if the business model should drive that decision. Additionally, the organization is more than willing to relocate the right individual wherever they might be to the eventual headquarters facility if necessary.

Position Overview:

• 10+ years of relevant experience

• Bachelor’s or advanced degrees in related technical field

• Business-side consulting experience with MBA a strong plus to consideration

• Proven technical skills and abilities with climate change, GHG carbon management
