Business Intern – Operations Team – Job ID: 301922 (Closing date 12/10/12)

Job Description
Provide business and proposal support for the Joint Global Change Research Institute (JGCRI) within the Atmospheric Science and Global Change (ASGC) Division. This research group manages over 50 projects and writes 50-60 proposals per year. This position will provide support for proposal-related efforts, including but not limited to preparation of cost estimates, finalizing statements of work, completion of internal approval documents (Prep and Risk forms), and completion of proposal packages. The position also entails preparation of weekly project status financial reports; updating the centralized proposal system; preparation of subcontract documents; interface with Contracts Department, and other functions as required for successful proposal and contracting efforts.
As part of the JGCRI Operations Staff, some support for facility administration may be required.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must be degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall GPA of 2.5. All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
Qualifications
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree in business or related discipline is required. Must possess strong knowledge of general finance and accounting principles, and demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to tracking financial and business requirements for the group.
Must be proficient in various business systems and financial software, and demonstrate organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in (1) working in a complex work environment with multi-faceted work assignments; (2) contracts and finance budgeting and tracking; (3) computer based support software including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn a wide variety of PNNL support systems; (4) good problem-solving skills, and (5) a reputation for integrity and trust. SQL knowledge is also preferred. 3.0 or higher GPA is preferred.
