Description

CDP is seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual with a procurement and/ or supply chain background to engage large corporations primarily in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and later across Europe. The role will involve working with members of the CDP Supply Chain Program, contributing to managing climate change, emissions and water with suppliers along major value chains and effectively working to prevent dangerous climate change.

Main responsibilities

  • Developing and executing a strategic plan to implement CDP requests and criteria into major corporate supply chains
  • Fulfilling the membership objectives set by CDP including personal meetings, workshops, external communication and collaboration with other organisations
  • Establishing, maintaining and leveraging relationships with relevant sustainability and procurement managers as well as trade associations, industry working groups and other organizations working in the supply chain field
  • Supporting member companies in executing and expanding supplier disclosure and incorporating analysis tools and CDP scores into their procurement decisions
  • Hosting public speeches at conferences and other events to present and advertise the CDP Supply Chain program
  • Understanding and leveraging synergies between the CDP Supply Chain Program, CDP Reporter Services membership tools and the CDP Mittelstand Initiative for non-listed companies
  • Assisting the Supply Chain team in the creation of presentations, brochures and marketing material

Requirements

  • An entrepreneurial and enthusiastic spirit with a self-managing, convincing senior personality
  • A passionate desire to contribute to solving one of the world’s major problems - climate change -, ideally demonstrated by activities in their career
  • A clear understanding of the aims, objectives and processes of CDP and the CDP Supply Chain Program and strong conviction about CDPs impact
  • Persistence, endurance and creativity in developing a new business stream
  • Strong networking, negotiation and communication skills
  • Existing contacts in networks across businesses in the DACH region, including relevant contacts within trade associations and industry working groups
  • Proven skills in public speaking and collaboration with corporations in industry working groups
  • 5 years of experience in procurement and/ or supply chain at large companies
  • Ideally at least 2 years of direct responsibility for a procurement budget
  • Proven track record in business development or sales
  • Desire and existing knowledge in understanding climate change related issues from a business and procurement perspective
  • Interest and ideally background-knowledge on greenhouse-gas-accounting and water management issues particularly with regards to supply chain analysis
  • Strong analysis skills with attention to detail and good research skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in a multi-national team with virtual communication (Skype, Yammer etc.)
  • IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CRM tools)
  • German mother tongue and fluency in English; another language relevant to the Europe region (e.g. French, Spanish, Swedish) would be a plus.

The successful candidate will report to the Director, Head of Programs & Markets, CDP Germany and Austria, and work closely with the Supply Chain team in London and the Berlin and European team. It is expected that there will be some travel in the region, particularly in Germany.

This position is based at CDP's offices in Berlin (Reinhardtstraße 12, Berlin-Mitte). This is a full time position until November 2014 and resulting in permanent employment pending the candidate’s performance.
