Start Date:                 ASAP  Open To:                    EU Citizens or holders of UK work permits Job Overview:            An Environmental Consultancy specialising in the management of ocean engineering, health and safety and environmental issues facing industry, commerce and government seeks a Business Development Geo-engineer.  The candidate will join the Survey and Site investigation team with the primary objective of pursuing business development and building the client base and work portfolio in line with targets and expectation. The successful candidate will also strengthen the Survey and Site investigation team’s geoscience and geo-technical and geo-engineering knowledge and capabilities.   The Company are continuing to expand their Survey and Site Investigation business sector as part of an overall programme of company growth, and in response to the current demands of the offshore energy sector.   You will possess a high level of technical competency in geophysics or geo-technical fields, as well as a proven track record in business development and acquisition of new business.  With an in-depth understanding of the current international Site Investigation market you will have a thorough knowledge and previous ‘hands-on’ experience of the offshore Site Investigation business. Key responsibilities: Reporting to the Associate Director of the Site Investigation team, this role encompasses many functions including to:
·       Be accountable for expanding the current client base and securing new business in the sector
·        Undertake project management, consultancy and other duties and activities associated with the day-to-day running of the geo-science consultancy
·       Collaborate with team manager and team members, as well as sector managers / Board, to establish a rigorous business development strategy·       Formulate a rolling plan to execute and deliver strategy.·       Ensure that a rigorous and comprehensive record of business development activities is developed and maintained and any associated knowledge and ‘lessons learned’ are captured, articulated and disseminated appropriately.·       Provide a focal point for all external customers (relevant to the team’s activities).·        Provide technical, commercial and project management input as required in support of the delivery of the team’s activities.·       Assist with strengthening and nurturing a strong ‘Associate’ base through building networks.·       Provide technical and commercial coaching for junior colleagues.·       Contribute to team meetings and forums as required.·       Adhere to company HSEQ systems and procedures, and acts as an example to colleagues.·       Contribute to setting the standards, and assures compliance in terms of conducting both business development and technical activities.·       Interface with clients, third parties, professional bodies and internal departments                                     This is an ideal position for an geo-science / geo-engineering professional with commercial and results driven acumen who wishes to make a substantial contribution to the continued growth of this highly respected business unit and see considerable career development.   This position is viewed as a key role in the organisation and the candidate will have the opportunity to significantly influence the development of Survey and Site Investigation team. Capability Preferences: The successful candidate will have:·      Relevent Degree e.g. geoscience / earth science or geo / civil engineering subject or equivalent essential·      Approximately 10 years within a relevant role within the industry; knowledge and previous ‘hands-on’ experience of the offshore Site Investigation business essential.·      Relevant and demonstrable experience in Site Investigation field operations and survey management, as well as a track record in a related commercial and business development role essential.·      Excellent technical and commercial acumen essential.·      M. Sc. or other postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject is desirable.

·      An established network of site investigation client contacts desirable.

·      Chartership or a commitment to Chartership through a relevant body would be considered desirable

·       Dynamic, highly motivated and able to demonstrate initiative.

·      Effective communication skills and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be essential.
