Salary circa £18,035 pa plus pension – Full time position 

The Somerset Wildlife Trust has a core staff of 45 people and more than 19,300 members. We aim to promote the conservation of the natural environment for the benefit of wildlife, people and future generations. We are part of a nationwide network of local Wildlife Trusts. 

We are currently recruiting for a Reserves Assistant  to help us achieve and develop the conservation management of our Brue Valley Nature Reserves. 

Brue Valley Reserves Assistant – full time permanent contract

This post is based at our Avalon workbase at Shapwick in the Somerset Levels and Moors, and will work on our wetland reserves in the Brue Valley. 

As a member of the Brue Valley Living Landscapes Team you will work closely with the Brue Valley Reserves Manager and Trust volunteers, and contribute to the development of our conservation ambitions in this wildlife-rich and challenging area. 

Candidates for the post will have at least 2 years’ experience of practical reserves management, working with volunteers, and organising and supervising contractors. Relevant training and qualifications in practical site management would be advantageous. 

A working knowledge of current conservation issues and methods, good communication skills and experience of teamwork are essential.
