BRE Global is responsible for developing, maintaining and managing BREEAM, the world leading standard for the assessment and certification of buildings.

As part of the International development work that BRE Global is undertaking on the International Code for a Sustainable Built Environment, BREEAM can be applied through national scheme operators at a country level but also through our standard International schemes.

We are looking for an experienced professional ideally with a background related to both client management and the use of BREEAM, to support the delivery of all aspects of the expanding BREEAM National Scheme Operator (NSO) and BREEAM International Bespoke business.

The role requires good knowledge of the construction industry and will involve providing a range of delivery tasks related to the operation of the NSO Licence Agreements and the BREEAM International Bespoke business, including:

  • Develop and maintain the licence agreements between BRE Global and NSOs,
  • Support the NSOs in their interpretation of the BREEAM Core Process and Core Technical Standards,
  • Develop key customer relationships for existing and potential NSOs.
  • Represent and promote BREEAM in relevant UK and International events,
  • Prepare contractual documentation, SOI and proposals,
  • Technically review Bespoke BREEAM criteria development projects delivered by the NSOs and ensure compliance with the BREEAM Standards,
  • Manage the schedule of NSO audits, meetings and workshops,
  • Deliver BREEAM International Bespoke criteria development projects,
  • Responding to client queries,
  • Preparation of monthly and ad hoc progress reports,
  • Active promotion through information, knowledge and data transfer

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following key skills, knowledge and experience:

  • A degree in architecture, building, building services, environmental engineering, energy, civil engineering, planning, client management or equivalent experience,
  • Two years post-graduate experience in a construction/environmental related role.
  • Excellent understanding of building design, construction and procurement, energy efficiency, sustainability and policy within the built environment,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills,
  • Be fully conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint,
  • Experience of managing customer relationships within the context of an on-going project
  • International travel will be required

With experience in key areas which might include:

  • Understanding and applying the principles of verification and certification, preparing for internal and external accreditation audits, updating scheme documents and dealing with queries by phone and email,
  • Practical experience of carrying out BREEAM assessments to certification.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • An interest in sustainability and environmental issues,
  • Foreign language skills,
  • Self motivated,
  • Preparation of contract documents from templates.
  • Be a  confident and effective communicator (verbal and written),
  • Be organised, flexible and be able to prioritise a busy workload.

Full training will be provided to enable the technical delivery of BREEAM projects.
