Description

As part of our team, you’ll work in an environment that’s like nothing else on earth, enabling us to perform world-class scientific research while sustaining an active and influential presence for the UK in Antarctic affairs.

Your role will be to manage the day-to-day operation of the biological sciences laboratory complex at Rothera Station and maintain the laboratory facilities. You will also manage health and safety in the laboratory environment, promote safe working practices, and provide support for long-term monitoring and survey and terrestrial fieldwork activities.

You will be based in Cambridge for 3 months prior to departure. You will leave to go to the Antarctic in November 2008 and return in March 2011.

Qualifications: With a degree, HND or equivalent in biological or environmental science. You must work well in a team with good negotiation and persuasion skills, and possess the ability to manage your own time effectively.

Salary: From £19,829 per annum (Difference from rate published in New Scientist advert reflects Antarctic allowance and 2008 cost of living rise consolidated within this amount)
