Blue House Farm Warden

Essex Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading conservation charity.  The Trust has over 35,000 members, 2,000 volunteers, 87 nature reserves, 11 Visitor Centres and around 150 staff.

We have an exciting opportunity at Blue House Farm for a warden. The successful applicant will work 37.5 hours per week across Monday to Friday but will be expected to work on a weekend rota. The post holder will be required to live on site and have the benefit of living in the desirable farm house.

Responsibilities include:

The successful candidate will manage 270 ha’s of  wonderful Essex Coastal Grazing Marsh, home to thousands of wintering and breeding wildfowl and waders.  You will lead on collecting data on the sites special and threatened species and manage the site based on this evidence.  An excellent practical knowledge of habitat management and machinery will be needed for this position to deliver the sites objectives.  Day to day responsibilities will include line managing an assistant warden and a team of committed volunteers, managing livestock and ensuring that the site is a safe place to work and visit.
