In cooperation with the BLM Winnemucca District Black Rock NCA, the Great Basin Institute is recruiting an AmeriCorps intern interested in support activities related to the management of historic trails within the Black Rock NCA. In addition to working with local groups in the area dedicated to the protection and preservation of historic trails, the intern will assist BLM Archaeology staff monitor conditions along the Applegate-Lassen Trail, to identify and record unmapped segments of the trail and to assist in the maintenance and updating of historic trails maps and records. Other duties will involve participation in public events and public interpretation. While this internship is focused primarily on cultural resource aspects of land management, the intern may also have the opportunity to assist with other recreation and natural resource management efforts on the District. This opportunity is available to youth between the ages of 18 and 25. |
