The National Renewable Energy Laboratory - NREL - is the only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
There is an internship available at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. NREL is the nation's primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
Job Duties
This research relates to catalytic conversion of biomass model compounds and biomass in the Biomass Catalysis group. Day to day work include help with catalyst characterization including spectroscopic measurements and sample preparation. Simple data analysis. Training will be provided.
Required Education and Experience
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program at an accredited institution.
Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
Strong analytical skills and background in chemistry. Attention to detail and adherence to high standards in conducting quality experiments. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Prior experience in research environment a plus. Knowledge in EXCEL or Igor preferred. Experience with XRD, infrared and/or vibrational spectroscopies a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Major in chemistry or chemical engineering.
