BiologistJob Reference Number15-0291 Job TypeTechnical ScheduleFull Time Job LocationNorth America; United States; California Job SummaryCardno is seeking a Biologist in our Solana Beach San Diego, CA office.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: > Serve as a project manager, technical lead, or supporting team member for a wide range of biological resource analyses as required by the National Environmental Policy Act, California Environmental Quality Act, and other statutes and regulations > Collect, analyze, and manage data on sensitive plants, animals, and habitats in the Southwestern U.S., for projects on Department of Defense installations as well as other public and private lands > Provide direction to junior staff > Contribute concisely written technical reports or sections of documents > Review and provide technical edits and comments on other documents > Conduct geographic information systems (GIS) mapping and other quantitative analysis > Participate in briefings/presentations/meetings with clients > Support marketing/business development > Collaborate with Cardno employees in offices across California and the U.S. Key ResponsibilitiesPlease see above
Other RequirementsBasic Qualifications:
> Bachelor's or advanced degree (preferred) in Biology, Ecology, or related discipline > Minimum 5 years' experience in environmental consulting or environmental management > Working knowledge of California natural history, plant and animal identification and taxonomy > Possession of one or more USFWS or CDFW permits, or other qualifications, to survey for federal- or state-listed threatened and endangered species in Southern California > Experience in wetland delineation > Experience working with the U.S. Military as a consultant or employee > Strong communications (verbal and writing) skills > Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs > Willing to travel overnight > Participate in strenuous outdoor activities associated with surveying and sampling natural resources under a wide range of conditions * Please Note that selected candidates will be required to pass a drug, background and reference screening.
