We’re currently looking for a Biologist in our Fresno, CA office.

Primary duties will include preparing biological opinions and associated environmental documents for CEQA, NEPA & ESA compliance.

Each such employee will serve as a Wildlife Biologist to Caltrans, and/or as a Wildlife Biologist in a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Field Office in Sacramento, Stockton or Fresno. The position will provide support to Caltrans District 4 project delivery with regard to meeting USFWS compliance and review requirements. The position will interact with Caltrans District 4 project staff, located in Oakland, and some travel between Sacramento, Stockton or Fresno and Oakland will be necessary.

The candidate will: 1) prepare and evaluate information derived from database and literature searches to evaluate potential impacts to fish and wildlife, 2) perform field surveys for special-status plant and animals species and prepare mitigation and monitoring reports. Field surveys include walking transects, collecting specimens, identifying plant and animal species. 3) oversight and review of Caltrans activities and documents for biological and water quality impacts, 4) perform construction monitoring during and outside normal working hours.

BS in Biology, Environmental Science or Wildlife Management. Minimum of 2 yrs experience. Proficient in Word & Excel. Proven communication & writing skills. Proven ability to interact with others professionally & complete tasks independently with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of CEQA and NEPA.
