Project involves the genetic characterization of pathogens in various wastewater samples (greywater, then yellow water as well as sewage), including sampling of lab and pilot wastewater treatment systems and preparation of spiking 'cocktails' of surrogates to pathogenic viral, bacterial and parasitic protozoans to demonstrate treatment efficacy. Applicant should be proficient in RNA and DNA extraction, cloning, PCR amplification and sequencing techniques, and possess the ability to optimize and troubleshoot various types of molecular reactions. |
