Biolinks is a new FSC project which will bring together existing volunteers, with skills in biological recording and identification, and new volunteers. The aim is to unite them in a community with a shared vision and sense of purpose by providing training and learning opportunities. This in turn will increase the quality of biodiversity data being submitted to our national biodiversity datasets and develop individuals as more highly skilled biodiversity volunteers.

We are looking for someone to extend FSCs existing biodiversity work to new regions including London, Surrey, and Buckinghamshire and to strengthen our work in the West Midlands. The development phase Project Officer will also be heavily involved in the submission of the final application to HLF for the main 5 year project.

To do this the post holder must have a degree in either Biology, Ecology, or a closely allied discipline and previous experience and competence in field taxonomy and recording. You will also be an excellent people person with proven experience in both partnership and volunteer development.

This is an externally funded post (HLF) and is offered in the first instance for 9 months starting as soon as possible in 2016.

The actual salary will be £23,399 based on 9 months.

(The full 12 month equivalent would be £31,199 per annum)

This post is based on a 40 hours per week, but a request for part time work would be considered for the right candidate.

The office location for this development phase project officer is flexible to enable FSC to appoint the most skilled person for the job. The working base for this phase could be the officer’s home, FSC Head Office (Shropshire) or FSC Juniper Hall (Surrey).
