Description

You’ll join a vibrant team of ecologists, integrating fisheries management and biodiversity with wider ecological and nature conservation expertise.

We deliver technical advice and guidance to all aspects of the Environment Agency’s work including our own flood risk management schemes, our river maintenance programme, responding to pollution incidents, regulating industry and influencing EA strategies and plans.

We input to the planning and development control process, commenting on Local Authority planning consultations and strategies to ensure development is sustainable and delivers environmental outcomes for people and wildlife.

We deal daily with the public, NGOs, Local Authorities, Water Companies, developers and landowners, assessing ecological risks and collaboratively delivering ecological benefits.

We deliver River Basin Management Plan measures and mitigation, such as fish passes and river restoration, and we enhance the environment through projects, often in collaboration with partners and the public.

Initiating, nurturing and influencing partnerships is a key element of the day job.

This role will allow you to use and continue to develop your technical experience and influencing skills to deliver long-lasting environmental improvements.
