Description

Chemonics seeks a biodiversity conservation specialist for the anticipated five-year USAID Program for Aquatic Natural Resources Improvement (PANI) in Nepal. The program aims to enhance Nepal's ability to manage water resources for multiple uses through climate change adaptation and conservation of freshwater biodiversity. It will provide support at the watershed, basin, and national scale, including the Karnali, Mahakali, and Rapti river basins in the midwestern and far western regions. The biodiversity conservation specialist will provide technical leadership and support to program implementation in freshwater biodiversity conservation. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in the biodiversity conservation field required; Ph.D. degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in relevant technical roles on programs similar to PANI
  • Recognized technical expert with a minimum 10 years of experience in freshwater biodiversity conservation, hydrology, and water resource management, preferably in similar development contexts as Nepal
  • Experience working effectively on multidisciplinary, multicultural teams required 
  • Proven capacity to build and sustain partnerships with academic institutions, nongovernmental organizations, and government agencies to achieve development results required????
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • ?Fluency in written and spoken English required; proficiency in Nepali preferred?
