We’re looking for enthusiastic biodiversity professionals to join our growing team.

Middlemarch Environmental is an award-winning natural environment consultancy that has recently embarked on an exciting period of strategic growth. Headquartered in Coventry and with regional teams across the UK, Middlemarch provides nationwide ecological, arboricultural and biodiversity services, as well as supporting clients with innovative landscape design and nature-based solutions.

Middlemarch has a bold ambition to be the environment consultancy of choice, offering trusted advice that helps to create an enduring natural environment legacy.

Many challenges can arise at the interface of nature and human development. Middlemarch provides expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients to address these challenges and ensure that the value in nature is fully understood, preserved and, wherever possible, enhanced.

Established in 1991, Middlemarch Environmental is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Collectively, the Wildlife Trusts are the largest voluntary nature and conservation organisation in the UK with over 850,000 members and 35,000 volunteers working to improve nature.

The natural environment sector in the UK is experiencing its greatest change in over 30 years. Recent changes to legislation and an ever-growing awareness of the global biodiversity crisis means policy makers and developers alike are looking to nature-based solutions to address the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and human health and well-being.

Middlemarch operates at the vanguard of the UK’s response to these challenges and has built a strong reputation and proven track record in the core service areas of ecology and arboriculture. The company has also already established significant expertise in biodiversity net gain, habitat design and offset provision.

An initial period of recruitment in 2021 has seen our capability and capacity around the provision of nature-based solutions grow significantly. We are now looking to diversify further to take advantage of new opportunities that are emerging as a result of the evolving legislative and policy framework in the UK. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with the following skills:

  •  Habitats Regulations Assessment
  •  Production of Ecology EIA chapters
  •  Biodiversity net gain, including use of biodiversity metrics and design and delivery of net gain solutions
  •  Environmental net gain, including experience of using Environmental Benefits from Nature (EBN) tool or similar
  •  Natural capital and ecosystem services evaluation and advice
  •  Habitat design, creation and restoration experience

As a part of our team, you’d be offered a competitive salary in line with your experience and skills, the potential for performance related rewards, pension, and the opportunity for training and continued professional development.

Middlemarch celebrates diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and is committed to providing fair and equal access to opportunities for all candidates.
