Description

Chemonics seeks a biodiversity and forestry specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA) project to provide biodiversity and forestry analysis to support development programming. The project aims to analyze biodiversity and tropical forestry across the Asia region and in non-presence countries to support compliance with Section 118 and 119 of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. The specialist will assist in information gathering, consultations, report writing, site visits, workshops, and management. The anticipated time frame for this assignment is September 2011 through April 2012.

 

Qualifications:

 
  • Post-graduate qualifications in biology, ecology, zoology, forestry, or other related natural resource field preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in tropical biodiversity conservation, marine and freshwater conservation and management, forest management, forestry, or climate change required
  • Strong knowledge of biodiversity, natural resources management, institutional development, policy, and economics preferred 
  • Experience conducting 118/119 analyses and knowledge of USAID strategic planning processes related to forestry and biodiversity, 22 CFR 216, and FAA 117 required
  • Experience managing complex, multinational regional activities involving coordination with multiple program partner institutions
  • Professional experience and an understanding of policy, economics, and market issues in the region relevant to technical areas
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required; Asian regional language skills preferred
  • National citizenship in any of the 18 Asian countries under RDMA's geographic scope required
