Environmental Education Internship/Volunteer

Endangered Species International (ESI) is looking for one volunteer/intern for conducting environmental education including producing interpretative signs for a protected area located in Mindanao Island, Philippines. The candidate will create content and design for the creation of about 10 interpretative signs about the local biodiversity and indigenous culture. Once content and design is completed, signs will be built and positioned in key areas. The candidate will propose after coordination with local communities and ESI staff the strategic locations where the interpretative signs will be placed.

Profile and competences for creating interpretative signs and environmental education:

  • A college degree in related fields (e.g., biology, environment, education).
  • Good skills and vision to design interpretative documents/signs about biodiversity and indigenous culture.
  • Good communications, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively.
  • Ability to work in remote place under simple conditions.
  • Energetic, resourceful, good strategic thinker.

The length of each internship/volunteer opportunity is about 6-8 weeks.  The candidate should be ambitious, creative, resourceful, and dedicated. Start date is first week of November 2011. ESI will provide free lodging, food and equipment.
