Description
IMPORTANT:  This Advertiser has requested that applicants MUST be National Residents / Valid Work Permit-holders.  Other applicants need not apply.

APEM Limited is Europe’s largest specialist aquatic science consultancy, offering our clients an integrated approach to every aspect of the scientific study, investigation and management of both freshwater and marine habitats.  With over 25 years’ experience we operate UK wide as well as internationally, and our scientists are recognised experts in their fields.

As a company we pride ourselves on our commitment to scientific and client service excellence.  As APEM embarks on a new phase of growth, a Bid Process Manager is required to respond to incoming tenders and manage the subsequent proposal from the organisation to them.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in bid management with line management responsibilities, preferably within a consulting or scientific organisation in the Water or Environmental sectors.  You will also be highly organised and able to deal with the completion and coordination of multiple, complex tenders at any one time. It is expected that you will quickly develop a good understanding of APEM through knowledge transfer, which will lead to the ability to select the appropriate technical teams to be consulted in relation to each tender. Therefore you will possess effective communication, management and team work skills, as well as being proactive and self-motivated.  It is intended that the individual will take responsibility for co-ordination of the bidding process, from origin to submission, including maintenance of contact with the client to ensure that their requirements are fully understood. The individual will need to produce quarterly senior management reports detailing tendering process and forecasting over the year.

This role is an integral part of the future long-term and sustainable growth of the company, and is seen as the first step in order to separate the tendering process from the fee-earning consultants. So as Bid Process Manager, your first task will be to recruit a team around you in order to manage the tender selection process. Your team will then be expected to co-ordinate the response of the technical sections by liaising with organisation’s consultants who have the specialist knowledge required.  In addition you will take responsibility for the production of the non-technical sections of the documents and be skilled in the production of appropriate tender response documentation and other marketing materials.  Your team will ensure that tenders are submitted in an effective and efficient manner, and that responses to our clients are of the highest quality and returned within the timescales set out.  Your team will also be responsible for regularly searching and selecting tenders of interest from a wide variety of web-based sources and client organisations.

The individual must be able to demonstrate a flexible approach, be well-organised and able to adapt quickly and effectively to changing situations. A good knowledge of health and safety / business insurance would be an advantage. It will be necessary to provide cover for general office administration duties from time to time.

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to make their mark in a dynamic and forward thinking organisation at a key stage in its development.
