Description

The Project Manager, who will assist in implementing the Biodiversity GIS project objectives, must be in possession of a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification, and demonstrate an excellent understanding of project management, GIS as well as information management practices. The ideal candidate will be proficient in ArcView, ArcInfo and ArcEdit, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite. Fluency in English and either Afrikaans or isiXhosa is required, plus good writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities will more specifically include:

• managing the BGIS website by ensuring that available data is published • ensuring that the BGIS lab is operational and functions as a corporate resource • providing strategic guidance in implementing a corporate GIS solution • providing support for GIS users within SANBI • managing projects and partnerships, producing progress reports and providing training.

SANBI offers an annual salary commensurate with qualifications and experience within the Level 10 salary scale. This salary is supplemented by additional fringe benefits that include attractive medical aid and pension schemes.
