Description

This conservation project carries out field research on bats and biodiversity and conducts community questionnaires and engagement in local surrounding communities. The project is currently seeking an experienced field research assistant who will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of field research work around field sites.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for career development for a researcher with quantitative skills who is interested in applied conservation biology, bats and human-wildlife conflict. There are opportunities for MSc and PhD studies for the right candidates.

The research camp is located in a wilderness safaris lodge within a National Park. The park harbours an abundant wildlife population including elephant, reedbuck, waterbuck and sable, hippo, buffalo, zebra, roan, eland and black rhino. Living in camp you will be on permanent safari, with regular visits to camp by elephants, hippos, warthogs and monkey.

The project will cover all work related accommodation (safari tent on wooden platform) and travel costs including airport transfers. There may be a possibility of a stipend for the right candidate.

A full project description, including the application instructions, is given within the member's area of our website: http://www.volunteer4africa.org
