Summary: The Sierra Club seeks an Associate Press Secretary to create a communications strategy for its aggressive campaign to protect America's water, air and landscapes by holding the natural gas industry to stringent environmental safeguards. The ideal candidate for this new position has strong professional experience in all aspects of communications and is particularly adept at working with reporters, bloggers and others in media to spread the word about the potentially catastrophic environmental threats posed by dirty fuels and the hopeful solutions created by the clean energy revolution. We are looking for someone with a proven record for building relationships with reporters and bloggers; someone who can quickly craft masterful messages and juggle multiple press inquiries while tenaciously driving a long-term communications campaign using the full spectrum of channels, from Twitter to the hometown dailies. Proven skill in the sensitive handling of controversial issues and crisis communications experience is important, and a good sense of humor couldn't hurt. The ideal candidate will have the scrappy confidence to work collegially with assertive experts and will collaborate well with a group of top communications professionals at the nation’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. ?
