The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Landscape Architect/Landscape Manager to join TEP’s Land Management team of over 30 landscape and estate management professionals, working within an award winning multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy.

TEP’s Landscape Management service is well established, and has always been a core part of our business. The team has grown steadily to deliver a diverse range of framework and standalone projects for government agencies, local authorities, private developers and charitable trusts. Projects range from open space, parks, and green infrastructure strategies; to landscape, habitat and conservation management plans; and site and contract management. We are always seeking new opportunities and innovative ways of working which align to our core values.

The role offers an opportunity to work across our teams and offices. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements including office location (Warrington, London, Market Harborough), part time working and home working.


The Role and Requirements

The role involves a range of service, project, and team management responsibilities; working alongside TEP’s Directors and Associate Directors and other lead professionals to deliver TEP’s business goals. The role requires leadership skills, professionalism, innovation and enthusiasm; and setting high standards for yourself and those around you.

In supporting the delivery and development TEP’s landscape management service, you will promote the services to clients, stakeholders, professional bodies and fellow consultants. As an expert in your field you will ensure TEP delivers best practice, and keeps abreast of emerging trends.

Using your experience you will generate new work through bids and targeted marketing, building a network of clients who regularly generate project opportunities, and growing our services across TEP’s teams and offices nationally.

Delivery of projects will be supported by multi-disciplinary teams of talented landscape managers, designers, planners and other environmental disciplines, including specialist external consultants. You will mentor and support others to develop, including highlighting opportunities and delivering training necessary to deliver and develop the service.

Reporting to an Associate Director/Team Manager, you will support on team and office management including monitoring resourcing, budgets and performance.

 

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience in the Landscape Management/Parks/Greenspace sector
  • Professional Landscape or Environmental Qualification (Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute, or other relevant professional body)
  • Ambition to fulfil a leadership role managing greenspace audits, strategies and management plans (knowledge of sports and playing pitch strategies is also useful)
  • Proven success in service delivery including generating new work, project management and managing project teams
  • Ability to produce high quality reports involving data and spatial mapping analysis (GIS skills are not essential but a working knowledge is useful)
  • Understanding of legislation, policy and best practice relevant to the role
  • Experience of working with a range of corporate, community and private sector clients and/or stakeholders
  • Team and people management skills including line management experience
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload and work to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and able to work well as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience in consultancy or similar commercial environment
  • Knowledge of landscape contracts, contract administration, costs and budgets
  • Understanding of heritage parks, landscape and conservation management plans
  • Involvement in promoting the profession such as speaking at conferences, attending industry events, involvement with education institutions and writing articles
  • Mentoring others to achieve professional qualifications (e.g. Pathway to Chartership)
