Description

Climate Advisers (CA) —a respected research, public policy and communications group dedicated to strengthening climate action in the United States and around the world—is seeking an Associate to join our growing Forest Policy and Communications practice areas.

CA’s Forest Policy team has designed, conducted and published a wide range of innovative analyses and policy proposals with the aim of reducing emissions from deforestation and strengthening the role of natural climate solutions. Our experts research, assess, develop and communicate practical advice at the global, national, and sub-national level concerning land-use and forestry planning processes, economic incentive models and social and environmental safeguards.

The Forest Policy Associate will conduct important quantitative and qualitative research and writing and provide day-to-day project management support to the team. At times, the Associate may also provide assistance to the Communications Team to prepare communications materials related to the Forest Policy practice area.

Climate Advisers is seeking a highly motivated, qualified research professional to join the team to advance this initiative. The position is based in Washington, D.C. and is open only to individuals authorized to work in the United States.

  • Identify compelling insights and trends to explore further in deep-dive analysis.

  • Support the Managing Director in day-to-day management of client projects.
  • Structure and draft white papers and other written products, including communications products, based on research to meet project’s deliverables.
  • Support senior staff in fulfilling other project deliverables, as required.

  • At least two years of professional experience, or a graduate degree in a relevant subject preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information gathered from background research across multiple sources and present key findings in a concise and accessible format.
  • Strong presentation skills, both written and speaking.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting and able to work independently to complete assigned deliverables.
  • Preferred - knowledge of and strong interest in forests and natural resource management, nature-based solutions, international and national climate policy, international development, international climate finance, carbon markets and REDD+.

About Climate Advisers

Founded in 2008, Climate Advisers has rapidly become a leading mission-driven, full-service consulting firm focusing on climate and energy policy. Our mission is to help clients and partners halt climate change in ways that further the public interest and improve their return on investment. Working globally but headquartered in Washington, DC, Climate Advisers specializes in U.S. climate change policy, international climate cooperation, global carbon markets, demand-side and trade-based climate strategies, low-emissions development, and climate-related forest conservation. Over the past eight years, we have carried out important original research, convened leading climate change stakeholders, forged new political coalitions, mobilized new voices for climate action, and advised senior policy makers in the Obama Administration and Congress. Our supporters and partners include leading national governments, international financial institutions, companies, think tanks, philanthropic foundations, conservation organizations, and climate advocacy groups.

Climate Advisers is a new type of organization that cuts across traditional boundaries. We combine the rigorous analysis of an independent research institution, strategic approach and responsiveness of a consulting firm, mediation skills of a professional facilitator, and, vitally, mission-driven values of a public interest advocate. In brief, Climate Advisers marries the professionalism, talent, discipline, and nimbleness of the private sector with the values and goals of the non-profit community.  Visit us at http://www.climateadvisers.com for more information.
