The Associate Director of Philanthropy Research will lead a research team working to support a dynamic national Philanthropy staff.

 

The Associate Director will set priorities for the research department and will make weekly assignments for the research staff. He/she will lead the research effort to help expand the prospect pool by utilizing his/her experience and skill at mining research resources to identify potential new major donors (individuals, foundations, and corporations) and to research prospects identified by Philanthropy staff.

 

The Associate Director will also schedule and facilitate strategy discussions on individual prospects. He/she will participate in calls and meetings with Philanthropy staff across the organization to learn about current projects and gift opportunities, as well as to identify and propose major donor prospects.

 

He/she will remain current with the current standards and practices of the prospect research profession. The Associate Director will also be responsible for the mentoring and professional development of the Research staff. Additionally, the Associate Director will provide training and orientation on prospect research to Philanthropy staff across the organization.

 

The Associate Director will manage the Research budget as well as vendor relations for the Research department. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring research data is gathered and maintained in the prospect database.

 

The Associate Director must have excellent organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and excellent analytical and time management skills. He/she must have the ability to work independently, as well as the ability to work well with a team of diverse professionals.

 

The ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality is absolutely required. 

 

The Associate Director of Philanthropy Research will supervise three other Philanthropy Researchers and will report to the Director of Philanthropy Operations. The Associate Director will work in the San Francisco headquarters.
