Description

Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is an international analysis and advisory organization that examines the effectiveness of energy and climate policies around the globe. Our mission is to help nations achieve low-carbon development by evaluating their efforts to promote the new energy and land use economy. The questions we tackle are among the most important in the world. In seeking to deliver practical answers to these questions, we work with government leaders, the private sector, and academia.

POSITION SUMMARY
CPI is looking for a talented, highly skilled, and motivated individual to (1) facilitate communication among a diffuse set of government and non-government partners in support of the implementation of Indonesia’s sustainable development plans (2) oversee CPI operations and knowledge-building in Indonesia and (3) serve as the top advisor to global CPI staff on the Indonesia work program. This is a unique opportunity for someone with drive and adaptability to help develop the foundation and approach of a critical work stream for this dynamic, global startup.

The position guides the strategic thinking and implementation of a work program focused on low carbon development in Indonesia, looking at issues such as the governance of forest lands and other natural resources, the evaluation of previous resource management effectiveness, and the development of funding instruments to incentivize improved resource management. CPI works closely with a coalition of partners in pursuing this work program, and a significant part of this job will require the management of the relationships with those partners.

To facilitate international learning and identification of effective green growth strategies and tactics, the work will be pursued in close cooperation with CPI teams in other parts of the world, and in close discussion with stakeholders from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres. Previous experience with climate and land use science and policy, economic development, and/or agricultural and resource economics would be valuable, as would knowledge and understanding of Indonesian regulatory institutions and/or multilateral or bilateral financial institutions and national or regional development banks.
