Major duties and responsibilities:
The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in the Republic of Panama maintains seventy-five buildings and facilities at eleven marine and terrestrial sites throughout the Isthmus of Panama in support of the research activities of its staff, students and visiting scientists. The Associate Director for Facilities Operations is responsible for all aspects of the design and construction of new facilities, facilities management, facilities operations, support services, and safety programs at STRI. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to about 60 staff, including professional, technical administrative, skilled and unskilled labor employees.
