Job Description:

To support our growth, we seek an Associate to work in our Fairfax, VA office.  The selected candidate will contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. You will have an opportunity to apply your experience and academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, and interact with experts and clients in the field, while building content knowledge and consulting skills.  Associates advance in our consulting practice and develop an area of special competence, with increasing responsibility for project management and client contact.

Qualifications

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with one or more programs that include Solar PV and hot water, distributed wind and small-scale hydro (potentially other Renewable Energy technologies) in residential, commercial and industrial facilities; solid waste management programs, including electronics recycling; and other programs within AERC's area of expertise.
  • Programmatic tasks include task design; technology and market research; guidance analysis and development; workflow management; client and industry relations; writing fact sheets, case studies and guidance documents; program reporting; and policy research and design.
Basic Qualifications: 
  • Master's degree with 2 years of experience or Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience.  Experience should be relevant to the position.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • An interest in and/or knowledge of energy/environmental issues, as well as varied public policy issues.
  • Commitment to outstanding analytics, research and writing.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, computer proficiency, organized, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task,
  • The ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Professional Skills:
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
  • Excellent problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions
